Job Description
Water Resources Authority is inviting applications for the position of Water Resources Officer II (Permitting). The role supports equitable and sustainable allocation of water resources through implementation of permitting processes in compliance with the Water Act 2016 and Water Resources Regulations 2025.
This is an entry-level technical role suitable for graduates interested in water governance, regulatory compliance, and permit administration. Successful candidates will assist in managing permit applications, maintaining permitting records, and coordinating technical evaluations of water use applications.
The position provides an opportunity to contribute to sustainable management of Kenya’s water resources while building practical experience in regulatory administration and compliance systems.
Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Receiving and documenting permit applications.
- Compiling and maintaining permit application registers.
- Updating permitting records and databases.
- Preparing applications for technical evaluation.
- Distributing permit applications to relevant technical officers.
- Supporting compliance and regulatory documentation processes.
- Maintaining accurate records and filing systems.
- Assisting applicants with procedural guidance where necessary.
Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Hydrology, Soil and Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Geology, Geoinformatics, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a technical regulatory environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
