Job Description
Water Resources Authority is looking for a competent and motivated Water Resources Officer I (Standards and Regulation) to support implementation of standards, guidelines, and regulations governing water resources management in Kenya.
The officer will support regulatory compliance monitoring, standards implementation, and technical reporting activities within the Standards and Regulation function. This role is suitable for professionals with experience in environmental regulation, hydrology, engineering, or water governance who are passionate about sustainable water resource management.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior officers and multidisciplinary technical teams to ensure proper application of water resource standards and regulations. The role also involves supporting compliance assessments and documentation processes that enhance accountability and sustainable use of water resources.
Responsibilities
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Compiling and documenting existing standards and regulations.
- Categorizing and allocating standards to relevant thematic areas.
- Monitoring implementation of regulations and standards.
- Assessing levels of compliance using approved criteria.
- Preparing reports on standards implementation and compliance status.
- Evaluating implementation progress and identifying challenges.
- Supporting review of operational guidelines and procedures.
- Participating in stakeholder engagements related to standards and compliance.
- Maintaining accurate technical records and regulatory documentation.
Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- Minimum of three (3) years cumulative relevant work experience as a Water Resources Officer II or equivalent role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hydrology, Soil and Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Geology, Geoinformatics, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Demonstrated merit, competence, and good work performance.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
- Good organizational and communication abilities.
