Job Description

AI Tutor - Humanities

SpaceXSI is seeking a full-time, remote AI Tutor - Humanities to help improve AI model performance on humanities questions and tasks. You will use scholarly judgment to evaluate model responses, create training materials, and help models reason carefully, use evidence responsibly, and communicate uncertainty clearly.

What you'll do

  • Evaluate AI model outputs for factual accuracy, logical coherence, unsupported claims, hidden assumptions, and fallacious reasoning.
  • Identify anachronisms, misused sources, ideological slant, and conclusions that go beyond the available evidence.
  • Create high-quality annotations, reference answers, and datasets for humanities training and evaluation.
  • Clearly distinguish between primary evidence, secondary interpretation, scholarly consensus, contested views, and speculation.
  • Represent opposing interpretations fairly before assessing their strengths, limitations, and evidentiary support.
  • Use primary sources where available and assess secondary scholarship in relation to historical or textual records.
  • Work with technical teams to develop evaluation guidelines, rubrics, and examples for humanities reasoning.

What you'll bring

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in linguistics, history, classical studies, literature, poetry, philosophy, ethics, visual arts, performing arts, or a related field.
  • Strong research, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • The ability to assess sources, arguments, interpretations, and evidence with care and precision.
  • Sound judgment when working with complex, ambiguous, or contested questions.
  • The ability to explain why a claim is well supported, disputed, weakly evidenced, or unknown.
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent approach to documentation, annotation, and quality review.

Nice to have

  • A PhD in a relevant humanities field or equivalent demonstrated scholarly depth.
  • Published analytical work, such as peer-reviewed articles, monographs, critical editions, catalog essays, or other rigorously sourced scholarship.
  • Experience in teaching, academic peer review, archival research, textual criticism, historiography, or formal argument analysis.

What is offered

  • A full-time remote role.
  • The opportunity to apply humanities expertise to the development and evaluation of AI systems.
  • Work focused on improving the accuracy, evidence use, and intellectual honesty of AI model responses.
